On May 5, 2025, the 137th China Import and Export Fair (Canton Fair), which lasted for five days, came to a successful conclusion in a warm atmosphere where tens of thousands of merchants gathered. As the world's largest and most influential comprehensive trade fair, the Canton Fair not only gathers global business opportunities but also fully demonstrates the innovative development and strong vitality of China's foreign trade.

    It was learned from the China Foreign Trade Center that as of May 4th, a total of 288,938 overseas buyers from 219 countries and regions attended the event, an increase of 17.3% compared with the 135th Canton Fair held in the same period last spring (the same below). The on-site intended export transaction volume reached 25.44 billion US dollars, increasing by 3%.

    It is worth attention that both new and old purchasers actively attended the fair, with the number of attendees reaching 171,750 and 117,188 respectively, increasing by 14.6% and 21.4% respectively. Emerging markets remain the largest source of visitors to the Canton Fair. There were 187,450 buyers from countries along the Belt and Road Initiative, an increase of 17.4%, accounting for 64.9%. There were 72,417 purchasers from BRICS countries, an increase of 24.1%. A total of 140 industrial and commercial institutions formed groups to attend the event, an increase of 17.6%. The number of leading multinational purchasing enterprises has reached 376, setting a new historical record.
